With the advent of civilization, education has become an essential part of our lives. It has made our lives beautiful. There are various temples of learning in and around Habra, set up by distinguished educationists, and famous dignitaries. But when the Metropolitan Cities across the country felt the taste of western culture and education, Habra was far from the same. Our Global Civilisation is a world heritage-not just a collection of disparate local cultures. The importance of English cannot be denied in today's global world. The majority of world’s population uses English as the medium of instruction in various sectors. To communicate with the rest of the world, need of a good institution was felt the hour for the future generation.
This blank space was filled up by the two pillars of Stratford Day School, without whom the dream wouldn’t have taken shape in reality. The two childhood friends took the vow to realize their vision. They set up Stratford Day School, far out of the common run, which would impart the best possible education in a learning-savvy environment with the help of the best available faculty.
They began their journey in 2003 with 13 students in a rented apartment and some well-wishers who extended their hands of cooperation to make their dream come true. The path was dark, with obstacles and hurdles at every step; the two friends took up the avenue befriending every obstacle that came their way. It is said that “Every cloud has a silver lining”, similarly Stratford Day School basked in the sunshine and laid her foundation in its own soil with a new school building in the year 2006 holding the hands of various well-wishers, guardians, and teachers who supported the Alma mater through thick and thin.
The Management Committee took a strict vow to instill modern teaching methods in the school. The School Management assured that no stone would be left unturned to provide quality education to the children of the school with devotion, diligence, and discipline, which is a part of the school’s mission statement. Finally, Stratford Day School secured her affiliation in 2014 with the code WB-339 from the CISCE for ICSE and in 2020, affiliated for ISC. SDS is the English Medium Co-Educational Institution at Habra, situated in sprawling premises with a pollution free environment of more than 2 acres. with a carpet area of 32,000 square feet, beautifully surrounded by trees, plants and flowers which provide a healthy environment for children to learn and grow.
Besides modern teaching methods, the ancient gurukul tradition is observed here, where the school aims towards a more comprehensive education system with equal attention paid to the physical, emotional, and intellectual development of the students to make them conscientious, responsible and dynamic future citizens. The team of dedicated, knowledgeable, loyal and hardworking teachers, along with their support staff, has worked hard only to make the students come up with flying colours in the ICSE and ISC Examination and in various Co-Curricular Activities. The school has successfully provided “Education” and not just “Qualification” to the students. The school has successfully helped in nation-building by inculcating good values among its pupils.
